HPH is second to none. My brother recommended HPH to me several years ago when my AC went out and had a great experience. Most recently, my upstairs unit went out. I can’t believe I haven’t written a review about HPH Services before. Howard Gurn, the owner, has been our go-to guy for HVAC for over 15 years. When he’s been booked and couldn’t come out immediately, he has walked me through troubleshooting or quick fixes over the phone until he could come out. We called him on the first day of freezing temperatures in the winter of 2024-25. Out furnace was blowing cold air. He came out and cleaned everything and got the heat working, but showed me some problem issues with the A/C unit. He also said that, although the cleaning of things like the temperature sensor got things running again he thought something else was the issue. He said the sensor just wasn’t that dirty.

The next day, the furnace started blowing cold air again. Howard said it was starting to look like the problem was the controller board for the furnace. After discussing options, we decided that it would be better to replace the 11 year old unit with a new one because even if we could get the heat going again, the A/C was probably going to be an issue sometime next summer. Howard recommended two Lennox models, explained the differences and I selected the slightly higher end model after asking about the price difference.

He showed up the first thing the next day with one of his crews. The crew placed protective, heavy drop cloths over our carpet and tile floors along the path they’d use to remove the old unit. They started by 8AM and were done testing the new unit by 3:45PM. Their work was amazing, as usual. Everything was very professionally installed. They included replacement of a cheap, fiberboard plenum, installed when the house was built. The HVAC unit was hung from the rafters, but the unit was not hanging by its top surfaces. Howard installed a cradle beneath the unit that supported it from below, reducing stress. That cradle was what hung from the rafters. The 1″ thick A/C filter was replaced with a 4″ thick one, like we had in our last two homes. He also included a checkup next spring/summer just to make sure everything was going well. He said the damper controller was operating fine and did not quote a replacement for it.

When he was walking me through the finished job, he mentioned he had thrown in a new Honeywell damper controller, without charging us for it, because the existing unit had been “in a 140℉ attic for 11 summers and he didn’t want to risk any problems.

Then he did something that was so Howard: He said I’d overpaid by about $600. He had quoted the higher-end unit. When I had asked about the price difference, I thought he had quoted the lower-priced unit, so I added the price difference to his original quote. He could have just kept the money and I’d have never known the difference. But that’s not Howard and his honesty is one of the reasons we keep calling him when we need HVAC service.

Howard, Came out ON TIME, for the appointment and was very clear and easy to understand, in explaining the situation my HVAC system was in, he helped out providing the financing, his crew arrived on time and were very respectful of my property, he came back twice to check up to make sure I was satisfied and to make sure I knew how to operate and set the thermostats, Howard was recommended to me by my neighbor and highly recommend Howard and HPH services to any repairs or new systems.

After years of bad experiences with multiple AC/Heat companies, I only trust HPH services. Howard is extremely knowledgeable and straight forward in his assessments of my AC/Heat units. HPH air conditioning company is the best company I have ever used. A few years ago when the owner, Howard Gurn, worked for himself I asked him if he could come fix my Lennox AC’s but when I told him I lived in south Arlington, he told me he didn’t service that far south. Well after begging a little he agreed to come after hearing the horrible service I had gotten from local companies and he has been coming all these years not even charging extra for gas he had to spend. Now that he opened HPH Services, they service all areas and replace and service all products. You won’t find a better man or a better company. Give them a call for estimates and services.

I was searching the web for reasons why my HVAC wasn’t cycling as it did the day before. I gave HPH Services a call , having a small business myself- the reason I consider conducting business with their services. Made an appointment for Howard to diagnose my issue. Continuing my online tutorial, I then knew the issue and the part to replace. I called Howard to cancel the service call but he stated he was near and asked to just confirm my discovery.

He diagnosed the problem and gave his recommendations of replacing a relay on my 30 year system ( not the conclusion I had). Howard took the time to inform and showed me the reason to the failure. He only charged for the part he replaced.

A month later, my mother’s duplex with a renter on the other side, needed service. I called Howard and schedule time for service. He checked both residential units. Moms equipment was is worse condition than the renters. She wanted the renters side to have the new system .The removal and install was respectful to the tenants needs and was competitive priced to the other’s. Howard kept moms equipment running the next two years when finally it was replaced.

Howard knows how to repair and keep it running. Not throwing unneeded parts or guessing the equipment can’t be fixed for replacement. If you want it done right without having to listen to an upgrade sales pitch, Call HPH Services – I have recommended him to four of my friends that needed service and/or replacement. All thanked me for my referral.
